Penrose is a small Cornish hamlet situated 2 miles inland from the beautiful beaches of Porthcothan Bay and Bedruthan Steps, nearby beaches include Mawgan Porth, Constantine Bay, Harlyn Bay and Treyarnon Bay. Newquay is 8 miles South and Padstow 6 miles North.
Penrose has a population of approx 200 people with petrol station, shops, takeaways and public houses nearby in St Merryn around 3 miles away.
The nearest pub is The Tredea Inn overlooking Porthcothan Bay about 1.5 miles away. There is a public footpath from the village down through a beautiful valley with a bubbling stream and woodland that takes you to Porthcothan beach.
The pathway is rough in places and not suitable for bicycles or pushchairs.
The walk takes around 25-35 mins and is perfect for a nice relaxing stroll to the pub during summer evenings. There are local taxis that will pick you up for around £8 and take you back to the house. It’s advisable to book a taxi in the afternoon as they are booked up quickly in the summer.
